اردو

From Urdu

The 万 (10,000) unit is exactly Urdu's لاکھ logic, just one step earlier: Japanese groups at 10,000 the way Urdu groups at 100,000. 十万 = ایک لاکھ. Read prices in 万 and they stop looking huge.

ไทย

From Thai

Thai numbers 1-10 and Japanese share the Chinese roots for a few (สาม/さん three, ก้าว/きゅう nine sound close). Yen ≈ 0.23 baht, so 1,000円 is about 230 baht: multiply by a quarter.
